Halal pho? Get outta here! Two stars just for making that happen.
I've never had pho before so don't have much to compare it to. But I happily had a hot, tasty bowl of halal spicy beef pho at this restaurant.
The restaurant was clean and warm, with a good amount of people-- ambient noise of chatter, but not overly packed. We were seated immediately.
The service was attentive, maybe a bit slow by City standards but I prefer that to being rushed.
Hoi An is a small shop just off Brick Lane-- you can walk around before or after and have a look at some of the very cool street art for which the area is well known.
I do recommend this place for folks who keep halaal/zabihah. Otherwise, I'm not so sure it's anything special for a pho house. -

A nice change to pop in for some Viet food off Brick Lane. I think the prices are quite reasonable for it.
I ordered a bowl of dry vermicelli noodles with grilled goat meat, with raw shredded greens and fish sauce. The goat meat was pretty tasty, but the shredded greens - half of them were dark / mushy and had gone bad. I would have mentioned something to the server, but I was in a rush.
Also, the description of the plate said "with chargrilled goat meat and spring roll", but I didn't get a spring roll. That was mainly why I ordered the dish! But I asked the server, and he was very adamant that it didn't come w/ the roll - and I didn't feel like asking for the menu to double check in case I was wrong! Anyhow, on my way out, I took another peek at the menu posted outside - I wasn't crazy, the dish definitely did say goat meat with spring roll! So I do feel a bit gypped.. The servers were really nice and attentive.
Anyway, the food isn't bad, but just a bit annoyed with the spring roll confusion and the raw mushy greens that had gone bad. -

I was really looking forward to check out this restaurant after reading quite a few good reviews here on Yelp. The lunch set menu looked inviting with loads of options and at a VERY affordable price. With all that good stuff going for this place I decided to take my whole team here for an (slightly cheap... er... budget friendly) outing.
Being the organiser that I'm I have booked ahead online the day before. Large table? No problem! 1pm lunch peak hour? No problem. All booked and set...
After dragging my whole team about 15-20 mins across Shoreditch & Spitalfield... we discovered the place wasn't even open! All shutters were down... no notice. no nothing.
I understand it's mid-week and we might have been the ONLY table in the restaurant... but if you decided not to open for whatever reason I think it'd be nice just to email/call to notify people who have "done the right thing" & booked ahead.
Rant over. Having said all this... I *might* still return... and hopefully will be able to update the review in a more positive tone & with more stars. -

This place just opened. Pretty traditional pho house. Limited condiments, but the broth was super!
